Voice Over Demos

Each commercial project requires the right delivery to convince and persuade your target audience.

Warm, articulate, informative. On-hold messages and IVR projects are among my specialties.

Keep a listener intrigued. Create a mental picture of the story that captivates and holds attention.

Convincing without sounding phony. A girl next door approach. A mom or friend you can relate to.

Effective learning online requires audio that is steady, clear, and easy to understand.

Confident, professional, authoritative. Medical narration must be precise and polished.

Don't hear what you're looking for? Ask Me!

I have hired voice over talent – like me – and I understand you want a certain type of delivery. Audio for training, explainer projects, commercials, telephone messaging ... ask me for a free audition and find out if I'm right for your narration!

Copy Writing, Copy Editing, Creative Development

Nothing can happen until a word is written.  And a word can't be written until we clearly define the audience and what we're trying to achieve.  By asking a lot of questions first, I can develop the right words that capture attention and achieve your goals.

Commercial Work

Every word counts. Print copy, radio and television scripts, campaign strategies…I have created award winning work for retail, healthcare, education, restaurants, and corporations. If you have copy already written and need a fresh perspective, let me look at it. I may be able to offer rewrites that can make the difference!

Corporate Writing

I have written sales and explainer copy for industry, healthcare, manufacturing and industrial clients including GE Industrial Systems, Hollister Whitney Elevator Corporation, Henniges Automotive, Great River Health Systems, Iowa Army Ammunition Plant ... to name just a few.

Instructional copy must be clean and concise. I have written training scripts that teach the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and elevator parts, as well as customer service training initiatives for retail and healthcare.

On-hold messaging is a great opportuntity to persuade and inform. These messages should be short and inviting, offering just enough information to make the customer ask for more. They should also be clearly spoken, (my specialty) and don't have to be boring ... they can be fun, too.

About Me

After a 5 year stint in radio, I started my ad agency in a spare bedroom. It was a big decision to go on my own, and honestly, I made it up as I went along … but we grew into the region's largest and only full-service firm. We were successful because we weren't order-takers.  We were passionate and did the right thing.  We developed strategically planned solutions that worked, and we took a clients success seriously. But after 32 years of entrepreneurship, learning many hard lessons, (and earning several Emmy nominations, Telly awards, and other recognitions) I sold the company.

I built a home on my family farm in northeast Missouri, a beautiful place where my mother was born. In a small studio in the house, I began a freelance voice-over and creative business.

Life in the country was amazing, but I wanted another challenge, so I rented the farm and moved to Philadelphia.  Having never lived in a metro area, this next chapter is already proving to be exciting, stretching my abilities as a voice actor and writer, and it suits my mantra:  Don't look back. You're not going that way!

After 32+ years in the advertising and voice over industry,  I’ve worked with a LOT of cool and interesting people.

Here’s what some of them think:

“Susan has produced most of our voice work for our health system, and she has written much of the copy. Her clear, friendly and warm sound is ideal. She offers suggestions to make our messages more effective, and she interprets the voice over copy in a professional, believable way. Susan is fun to work with, cares about our projects and turns the work around quickly.”

– Craig Borchard - Great River Health Systems

"Under Susan’s creative direction, we saw our image and sales grow steadily. She fine tuned our message in a creative and yet professional way that introduced our design services and home improvement products to a targeted customer base - and the results were terrific. She listens, asks a lot of questions, pays attention to the details, and assumes a personal responsibility for success. And she’s a lot of fun to work with!"

– Kevin Vandement - Woodmart Building Center

"Great Job!  Appreciated the fast turnaround, too."

– Ben Tom George

"Susan is first and foremost a creative, hard driving, goal oriented individual. She has excellent sales ability with an attention to detail that is well beyond the norm. She will rise to be a top performer and primary asset to any company where "thinking outside the box" is a top priority."

– Pam Aimone - VIce President/General Manager, Retired at STARadio Corporation, Quincy, IL

"I met Susan when I first took over as Chief Officer of my company. She helped us review, update and make our marketing information relevant and effective. Susan is a talented, out of the box thinker who is sensitive to her clients needs, listens to their concerns and is not afraid to tell you exactly what she thinks. Her strength is her creative insights and follow through that has made my marketing program successful."

– Marcel W. Wagner Jr. - CEcD President / CEO at Great River Economic Development Foundation

Photography Work

When I was a little girl, my father gave me an Argus C-3 film camera.  He would take me into the darkroom at the newspaper where he worked, and I would watch him develop his images.  Today, when I'm not in the booth, or chasing after my dogs, I'm learning how to use my Canon Rebel T4i.  Take a look!
